Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly Meme started by Breaking the Spine. It is a feature that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. I chose this book for a number of reasons. First reason, the main character's name is Anya. That is my daughter's name, so I'm partial. And fate of fates it releases on my BIRTHDAY. Wow, I better lurve this book, or I will consider fate a biznatch.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
Embers by Laura Bickle
Simon & Schuster blurb:
Unemployment, despair, anger—visible and invisible unrest feed the undercurrent of Detroit’s unease. A city increasingly invaded by phantoms now faces a malevolent force that further stokes fear and chaos throughout the city.
Anya’s accustomed to danger and believes herself inured to loneliness and loss. But this time she’s risking everything: her city, her soul, and a man who sees and accepts her for everything she is. Keeping all three safe will be the biggest challenge she’s ever faced.
Embers
A sizzling debut from a red-hot new author . . .
Truth burns.
Unemployment, despair, anger—visible and invisible unrest feed the undercurrent of Detroit’s unease. A city increasingly invaded by phantoms now faces a malevolent force that further stokes fear and chaos throughout the city.
Anya Kalinczyk spends her days as an arson investigator with the Detroit Fire Department, and her nights pursuing malicious spirits with a team of eccentric ghost hunters. Anya—who is the rarest type of psychic medium, a Lantern—suspects a supernatural arsonist is setting blazes to summon a fiery ancient entity that will leave the city in cinders. By Devil’s Night, the spell will be complete, unless Anya—with the help of her salamander familiar and the paranormal investigating team—can stop it.

I want to get Embers too - do you know the release date? It sounds interesting and it takes place in Michigan - where I'm originally from - I always love reading books that take place in areas I'm familiar with.
Wow, this is really intriguing. I love the title too but not sure it fits the premise.
I know I can always count on you to know of titles that will make my TBR list swell even huger than it is now. Thanks for posting about this one, it sounds good. :D
Thanks for mentioning EMBERS! It's due out March 30. I hope you enjoy it.
My husband's from Detroit, so he was my go-to guy for research. ;-)
