Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow

Strange Angels (Strange Angels, Book 1)Strange Angels (Strange Angels, Book 1) by Lili St. Crow
Guess what? I bought this book...yeah.

PJVs QUICKIE POV: Having purchased this book awhile back, I'm very sad that I waited this long to read it, because this book rocked! Dru Anderson sucked me in and spit me out...leaving me with a hankering for red meat, a new found obsession with yet another teenage hottie boy character (and a taste for apple pie) and a few new one liners for my snark library. To break it down this book went from 0 to 60 in the first few pages and then didn't slow down, not even in the end. The characters were excellent, the progression top-notch, and the story-line intense. I can't wait to read Betrayals (Strange Angels, Book 2)!

REVIEW: Dru Anderson has a strange life, following her father around the country as he hunts Big Baddies isn't exactly normal. She has gone from school to school, from town to town, with her high education coming in the form of weapons training, martial arts and hexing, instead of the normal high school curriculum.  And yet, while Dru might have an odd life it is her life and she is content, that is of course until her father fails to come home from a hunt...

Dru's life is now spiraling into chaos. Something or someone is chasing her, she has some how garnered herself a "hanger-on" in the form of a half-Asian goth kid and to top it off she has to deal with the loss of her father. Could it get any worse?

Poor Dru! She was such a rock solid character, a cross between Max (Dark Angel) and a female John Connor (Terminator) or Dean (Supernatural), the depth of her character seeped into this book and made it a crazy, worthwhile read. The action, paired with the emotional trauma, snarky inner dialogue and witty repertoire between the characters pushed this YA into an all time favorite slot for me. The interaction was so real, I could just picture it happening, even the subtleties, of how Dru would describe Graves - and how she would soften to him at moments when her guard was down.

Then there was Christophe, who shows up later in the book - but definitely makes an entrance. If you've read a few of my other reviews, it is pretty evident that I go for the bad boys...so I was swooning over Chris the moment he strangled Dru ;) Nothing like saying "I ♥ U" like a round house.

If you like hard-hitting YA - you'll enjoy this novel!

RECOMMENDATIONS: PG-13, nothing too garish or sexual in these pages, so fit for your younger teens. Fans of Vampire Academy should really like this series.

I completely agree with your review- the characters were so realistic! I must say though that I'm Team Graves- Christophe struck me as a little too cliche.
