The Dead Girl's Dance
by Rachel Cain

This is book two in the Morganville Vampire series. If you have not read the first book Glass Houses this review will contain spoilers. Please read my review of Glass Houses here to become aquainted with the series.

PJVs QUICKIE REVIEW: Book two in the Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Cain. Claire is back to her old tricks again in the city full of vamps - and I just can't get enough. The plot has definitly thickened and this one had me going through a range of emotions - leaving me with one end goal - to buy the next book in the series.

REVIEW: The second book starts right where the first book ended. The roomates are neck deep in vampires, but they now seem to have a strong ally in Amelie, even though how friendly she is remains to be seen. There is one thing that vamps seem to have in common - hidden agendas.

The Dead Girl's Dance intoduces us to new vamps and some new scaries, one of which is Shane's father - who with a one track mind get the roomies into a lot of trouble and has Claire, Eve and Michael scrambling to save Shane's life. Can Claire be a hero, especially as more and more enemies are being made along the way?

Vampy good fun, the Morganville series deepens the YA vamps a smidge and gives life to their baser natures. I sometimes like looking at vampires in this fashion, it usually scares me silly - but I have a feeling as the series expands the books might become a bit more vampire friendly.

I'm hooked on Rachel Cain and her vampires - and can't wait to read more. Haven't visited Morganville yet? What are you waiting for?

RECOMMENDATIONS: Adults and Young Adults alike should enjoy. There is a bit of violence and some schizophrenic sociopathic behviour - but nothing too over the top. Fans of the Sookie & Anita series that want to transition to YA should enjoy. YA fans of Vampire Academy who want more vamps...

I love the new format you used for your review! How you have all the book/author info on the left - how did you do that? I smell a tutorial topic idea :)
