THE MONSTRUMOLOGIST
These are the secrets I have kept. This is the trust I never betrayed. But he is dead now and has been for nearly ninety years, the one who gave me his trust, the one for whom I kept these secrets. The one who saved me . . . and the one who cursed me.
So starts the diary of Will Henry, orphan and assistant to a doctor with a most unusual specialty: monster hunting. In the short time he has lived with the doctor, Will has grown accustomed to his late night callers and dangerous business. But when one visitor comes with the body of a young girl and the monster that was eating her, Will's world is about to change forever. The doctor has discovered a baby Anthropophagus—a headless monster that feeds through a mouth in its chest—and it signals a growing number of Anthropophagi. Now, Will and the doctor must face the horror threatening to overtake and consume our world before it is too late.
Read the First Chapter.
THE CURSE OF THE WENDIGO
While attempting to disprove that Homo vampiris, the vampire, could exist, Dr. Warthrop is asked by his former fiancé to rescue her husband from the Wendigo, a creature that starves even as it gorges itself on human flesh, which has snatched him in the Canadian wilderness. Although Warthrop also considers the Wendigo to be fictitious, he relents and rescues her husband from death and starvation, and then sees the man transform into a Wendigo. Can the doctor and Will Henry hunt down the ultimate predator, who, like the legendary vampire, is neither living nor dead, whose hunger for human flesh is never satisfied? This second book in The Monstrumologist series explores the line between myth and reality, love and hate, genius and madness.

I had a big giant in my closet named Clifford. He was kind of like that giant Muppet in the first muppet movie so he looked friendly. However, if I left my closet door open at night he got into my dreams.
There was a monster under the bed. I wouldn't leave my feet uncovered no matter how hot I got or let my hands or anything hang over the side of the bed. Actually, I still don't. LoL

My monster still is a giant rat (like the ones in THe Princess Bride) - They are so creepy ... :S

I was always certain there was something under the bed. I would sleep with my knees bent up, and my feet as close to me as possible.I still can't have anything dangle over the bed.

There were witches and those creepy nameless, faceless monsters that live under the bed when I was a kid until my dad wrestled them out of the house. :)

The monster in my closet was a huge rodent. I've always been super afraid of anything remotely rodent-like. Uggh. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it!

The monster of my childhood was actually from a horror movie. I was - and am still kinda (sadly) terrified of the movie Pet Semetary - and when i was younger i was terrified that that baby (Gage) or that scary looking woman with Spinal Meningitis (sp?) were under my bed or in my closet or something so i would be awake terrified all night!

The monster in my closet when I was a child was always an extremely large spider. I'm still afraid of spiders to this day! I hate and am frightened of spiders.

I can't actually say WHAT my monster was as he never really showed me his face. But I do know that he was very large, very hairy and had long finger nails that liked to scrape the back of my closet door. To this day, I have to sleep with my closet door open!
my monster was spiders of any kind !!

I wasn't afraid of any fictional monsters as a child. But I was afraid of bugs (mainly spiders) as my childhood room was in the basement and I would frequently find spiders in my bed. Over time I grew less afraid of them though :)
I was so terrified that something was hiding under my bed. I don't think I called it the boogie monster or anything like that, I just always made sure that my stuffed animals and myself didn't end up going over the end of the bed, or else something would get us. It is a little embarrassing, but once I turned 18 and moved out of the house I put my mattress on the floor (where I've kept it ever since), so now there is no room under my bed for monsters! LOL

Ok, don't laugh, it was one of the creatures from the movie Critters, one of those spiney hairballs with sharp teeth. *sigh* I utterly loved that movie and it didn't scare me, so this sort of confused me for most of my childhood why I would be scared there was one lurking in the room with me. Ok, somtimes I feel certifiable! LOL

I didn't really have a monster in my closet, it was more like the monster under my bed. I used to run and jump on my bed because I was afraid it would grab my feet and drag me under.

The monsters in my closet (yep plural) were porcelain dolls. They freaked the hell out of me. My closet door had a weak latch so every time someone walked past my room the latch popped open and you could see the eyes glowing in the light from the window. Indigo

the monsters in my closet were definitely murderers, like those in the mary higgins clark books i read starting in about 4th grade.i would totally psych myself up and be petrified to get out of bed to go to the bathroom or even to close my eyes. i was never scared of fake monsters just real scary men with guns an knives. sad, right?

Yes, what californiameaghan said...It was never fictional monsters, but real people. And whenever we went camping I was too afraid to walk to the bathrooms in the night. And, when me and my friend would stay in the tent, we were convinced the wind was someone shaking the tent.

The monster of my childhood was an 80 ft chicken. I kid you not! I use to think that if I didnt look at the barn down the road from my babysitter's house, I would dream about this huge chicken attacking us while having a picinic in the said barn. Scared the crap out of me.

My monster wasn't in the closet, he was in the tub drain. I think I got the idea from one of the Freddy Krueger movies where he comes through the drain to kill the girl taking a bath. I still can't close my eyes when I'm in the shower!
It was always a spider. Varying sizes but always a spider.

Actually I always thought of myself as the monster and I was afraid of the villagers with the pitch forks and torches outside my window.

Oh gosh, I remember watching a creepy episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" when I was younger and there was this creepy wrinkly batish vampire thing handing off the ceiling. I was always afraid that one of them was hiding inside my closet.

It was whatever I dreamed up at the time. I remember jumping from my bed to the door all the time, so I didn't have to tiptoe past the closet or get eaten by monsters under the bed, until one time I missed and slammed right into the door frame and almost knocked myself out. My mom put an end to the jumping after that. That is until I discovered the 'Queen of Scots' rhyme in my mirror. I almost ran out of places to walk at night in my room.

I have this long-running joke about this (or saying, really). It's that 'ordinary' children are afraid of hairy monsters and bogeymen in their closets. Nerd children (such as myself) are postive that Darth Mal is hiding in their closets and Lord Voldemort (in his semi-returned form) is lurking under the bed. Seriously, I was *really* bad about that whole 'there's something in my room!' thing when I was younger. I watched too many scary movies. :)
