Shifter Challenge 2011 {Sign Up Post}

The Shifter Challenge 2011

This is the official sign-up post for the Parajunkee's View Shifter Challenge 2011. Along with vamps, I happen to have a thing for the fabulously furred. You might call me, well a Junkee *snicker*

So, join me today in the Shifter Challenge, where we celebrate those fantastically furred peeps that are quite normal except for the fact that they spend a good bit of their lives on four legs.

THE RULES:

  1. Post about this challenge on your blog stating that you are participating. That post is the link that you will include in the Mr. Linky below. The link should be the post link not just your blog link.
  2. Grab the button and display it in the post (use grab code underneath the button) or on your sidebar so others can join in the fun.
  3. Challenge goes from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011
  4. The challenge is to read 20 books that have a SHIFTER as a main character, either protag or antagonist
  5. Post your reviews on the Review Post: http://www.parajunkee.com/2011/01/shifter-challenge-2011-review-link-up.html

FAQs

Q:  Can I read more than 20?
A: You can read as many as you want.

Q: Do I have to have a blog?
A: No, you don't have to. If you would like to sign up using an online profile go ahead and do that, just post in the comments section the books you've read.

Q: Do I have to know what books I'm going to read ahead of time?
A: No you do not. Pick them as you go, or have them all mapped out, it is up to you.

Q: Do I have to stick to a particular genre?
A: Nope, as long as it has a SHIFTER as a main character.

Q: If the book is about vampires, but their is a werebat or werecat in it does that count?
A: The shifter needs to be a main character. If there is a slight reference to a shifter in the novel that doesn't count.

Q: Does it matter what kind of shifter they character is, do WereSnakes count?
A: Any shifter you want, all cool. Now lets get this straight, for definitive purposes, we are defining a shifter as a human that changes into an animal, or an animal that turns into a human. Hence shifter = shifts from one form to the other. The other form being animal.

Q: Can I join up whenever I feel like it?
A: If you thought you could do it, you could join up in December 2011...no restrictions

Q: Will their be monetary compensation for those that complete the challenge.
A: Nope, just the undeniable glory of having completed a vampiric milestone.

Cool challenge! I love shifters. Are you going to post your list? I will probably need recommendations. :)

ParaJunkee said...

I will post both my lists probably next week.

hmmmm...I'm going to have to give this one some thought....need to go hunting to see if I can find some shifter books/recommendations...

I have signed up for other chalnneges as well. I hope that I can cross this with other challenges. If so, I will join as well. I will be making a list for a single post of all the challenges I plan on partipating in.

I also am gonna cross this one with another I have already joined but couldn't pass it up being one solely for shifters! Thanks for hosting it! Will come up with me a list later, I need to poke around and see what i can come up with. :)

Heey
I just signed up. Does Twilight counts? Because in that case I only have eighteen more books to go!
Love the Challenge!

ParaJunkee said...

@Lori - this should. Pair it with a debut challenge or an Urban Fantasy Challenge, those would work nice!

@Universe - Maybe not Twilight, because that one is all about vamps, but New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn - SURE!!!

ParaJunkee this is yet another amazing challenge you have made! I'm IN!! I have already included this challenge on my blog and I've signed up on your link :). Thank you again for these awesome Challenges!!!

Can't wait! I signed up on the linky just now - but I wanted to let you know that I did just link my blog address because I made a sidebar post for the challenge. This is where I will update the books read list and add the links to my reviews and everything. I hope that works out. Thanks for hosting this one - LOVE shifters!

I have a new link to add to the challenge. I switched over to Blogger and so the URL changed on my signup entry. I added a modified Mr. Linky.

Now this one will be harder for me as I'm not as familiar with shifters, but I have a list of six that I already want to read so I'll get started. Hoping some of the debut writers will be vampire or shifter writers. At least we can count on Shannon Delany's 2nd book.

Great challenges, I'm in! (:

Hmm... I have a question. Do multiple books in a series each count separately towards the 20-book goal?

Megan@Riverina Romantics said...

I'm in on this challenge! I'm not a blogger but I'll post in this section the books that I've read!

Beth said...

I'm trying to get all my challenges straight. Signed up for and posted on my blog. Tried to grab that button to post on the sidebar of my blog and what actually showed up was not the challenge button.
