The weekend is here and Parajunkee's View is pleased as an Irishman with a Guinness, to welcome author Lisa Sanchez to the blog in celebration of Paranormal Spring Break. Ms. Sanchez is the author of the very sexy Hanaford Park Series and in celebration of book two's release she has offered up a copy of Pleasures Untold (see below for deets)
Genre: Adult, Paranormal Romance
Series: The Hanaford Park, Book 2
Fantasy Element: Witchcraft
Order Online: Amazon.com
Stalk the Author: Web | Blog | Twitter
Lisa Sanchez: You bet! Pleasures Untold has a little something for everyone, lol. The heroine, Martha, is a very powerful witch with a grudge. Actually, grudge really isn’t the right world. Girlfriend is pissed off and seeking vengeance. Her mother and grandmother were killed by a vampire, a real nasty SOB, and she’s been on the hunt ever since. Her motto, “stake first, ask questions later” has worked pretty well for her. That is, until she meets our vampy hero, Xan. One chance meeting with him is all it takes for things Martha sees as black and white to become muddled and grey. Along with our hero and heroine, there are a handful of nasty demons, a few stray zombies and a whole lot of lovin’. Good times!
LS: Well thank you! Lol! Honestly, I write the way I talk. Eeck! Did I just admit that? In all seriousness, I write what’s in my head. I’ve got a sixteen year old daughter who exposes me to all kinds of interesting words, and I’m a dork. I watch teeny bopper movies when I should be cleaning, and I stalk sites like The Online Slang Dictionary, and laugh my ass off at some of the ridiculous stuff people come up with. Words are fun, yes. But, slang words?? So much better IMO.
LS: Most of Martha’s witchy mojo is complete fabrication on my part. Concepts like glamour spells, astral projection and teleportation were, of course, things I picked up here and there over the years. However, I did do some research when it came time to write about the dark, Voodoo stuff. Very interesting!
LS: Hee hee…not in this book. In fact, I pretty sure they won’t make their reappearance until book four. Who knows, though, I’m not done with book three yet, so there’s a slight possibility. I make no promises!
LS: Honestly, when I sit down to write, my main goal is to stay true to my voice and to my story. I try not to think too much about what everyone else is doing. I’ll only depress myself, lol. I write what’s in my head, and in my heart and let the story flow from there.
LS: I’ve met some incredible people! And I’m not just talking about authors, though authors, I have to say, are some of the nicest people around. I’ve been quite blessed to have formed some wonderful friendships with both readers and bloggers, and I never would have done that had I not taken that leap toward becoming published.
LS: Heh heh…For me, it’s a bit of an obsession. I liken it to when I was trying to get pregnant and I’d buy multiple pregnancy tests. You know, the little plastic sticks you pee on then wait three minutes for your results? I’d go a little crazy, take five tests in one day to see if that second line got any darker. I had what some might refer to as peeonastickitis. Sigh…It’s the same with reviews. Good or bad, I just can’t stay away. Mind you, I don’t respond, but you can be damn sure I read them. It’s a sickness, I tell you!
LS: I have no idea how I do it! Seriously, some days it’s all I can do to remember what I had for breakfast! Scheduling. That’s what saves me. I keep a schedule of tasks, things I need to complete each day, then live by it. Most days I don’t get everything crossed off my list, but there are those days when the magic happens, and that’s when you’ll see me blogging, or posting on FB, Twitter. I totally think it helps. I’m a bit of a star struck reader myself, and I think it’s so cool when my favorite author hops on Twitter to chat.
LS: Oooh, good question! I’ve always been fascinated with magic, so I’d most definitely want to be a witch like Martha. Wardrobe changes would certainly be easier, lol! As far as who I’d date? I don’t know…I’m still drooling over a certain faerie :)
LS: Okay, I’m a total dud. Boring to the extreme. I didn’t finish college and never went anywhere for Spring Break. Of course, there was that one trip the hubby and I took to Tahoe before we were married…nah…I think I’ll keep that one to myself :)

Parajunkee's View: Can you tell us a little bit about PLEASURES UNTOLD?
Good times!
PJV: Your characters are larger than life. Trash talking, witty and full of snark -- how do you come up with the fantastic dialogue and one liners?
LS: Well thank you! Lol! Honestly, I write the way I talk. Eeck! Did I just admit that? In all seriousness, I write what’s in my head. I’ve got a sixteen year old daughter who exposes me to all kinds of interesting words, and I’m a dork. I watch teeny bopper movies when I should be cleaning, and I stalk sites like The Online Slang Dictionary, and laugh my ass off at some of the ridiculous stuff people come up with. Words are fun, yes. But, slang words?? So much better IMO.
PJV: Did you have to do a lot of research for the witchy mojo parts of PLEASURES UNTOLD?
LS: Most of Martha’s witchy mojo is complete fabrication on my part. Concepts like glamour spells, astral projection and teleportation were, of course, things I picked up here and there over the years. However, I did do some research when it came time to write about the dark, Voodoo stuff. Very interesting!
PJV: Will we see Quinn & Ryann make an appearance again?
LS: Hee hee…not in this book. In fact, I pretty sure they won’t make their reappearance until book four. Who knows, though, I’m not done with book three yet, so there’s a slight possibility. I make no promises!
PJV: With the amount of Paranormal Romance novels out their for our reading pleasure, how did you set yours apart?
LS: Honestly, when I sit down to write, my main goal is to stay true to my voice and to my story. I try not to think too much about what everyone else is doing. I’ll only depress myself, lol. I write what’s in my head, and in my heart and let the story flow from there.
PJV: How has becoming a published author changed your life?
LS: I’ve met some incredible people! And I’m not just talking about authors, though authors, I have to say, are some of the nicest people around. I’ve been quite blessed to have formed some wonderful friendships with both readers and bloggers, and I never would have done that had I not taken that leap toward becoming published.
PJV: Do you like to read the reviews of your books?
LS: Heh heh…For me, it’s a bit of an obsession. I liken it to when I was trying to get pregnant and I’d buy multiple pregnancy tests. You know, the little plastic sticks you pee on then wait three minutes for your results? I’d go a little crazy, take five tests in one day to see if that second line got any darker. I had what some might refer to as peeonastickitis. Sigh…It’s the same with reviews. Good or bad, I just can’t stay away. Mind you, I don’t respond, but you can be damn sure I read them. It’s a sickness, I tell you!
PJV: On top of being an author, a mom and a wife, you also maintain a very prolific online presence, twitter, blogging, etc. Do you think it helps spread the word about your books and how do you balance your time?
LS: I have no idea how I do it! Seriously, some days it’s all I can do to remember what I had for breakfast! Scheduling. That’s what saves me. I keep a schedule of tasks, things I need to complete each day, then live by it. Most days I don’t get everything crossed off my list, but there are those days when the magic happens, and that’s when you’ll see me blogging, or posting on FB, Twitter. I totally think it helps. I’m a bit of a star struck reader myself, and I think it’s so cool when my favorite author hops on Twitter to chat.
PJV: What paranormal creature would you like to be? And which one would you most likely date?
LS: Oooh, good question! I’ve always been fascinated with magic, so I’d most definitely want to be a witch like Martha. Wardrobe changes would certainly be easier, lol! As far as who I’d date? I don’t know…I’m still drooling over a certain faerie :)
PJV: What is your best Spring Break memory?
LS: Okay, I’m a total dud. Boring to the extreme. I didn’t finish college and never went anywhere for Spring Break. Of course, there was that one trip the hubby and I took to Tahoe before we were married…nah…I think I’ll keep that one to myself :)

What a great interview! She seems so down-to-earth and chill :) Thank you so much for introducing me to Lisa's books. I'm definitely going to check them out. "Trash talking, witty and full of snark" characters are the best! I'd love to be entered into the giveaway, too.

Great interview! I love how Lisa finds slang words to use in her stories. The book cover for Pleasures Untold looks fantastic with Parajunkee's blog as a background! I'm wondering, Lisa--which characters will be featured in book three, which I hear you just finished? (Or maybe that's a secret). I am very impressed by your productivity as an author! And parajunkee, thank you so much for your tutorial on using a giveaway form--I can't wait to try it out.
Peeonastickitis!! Is that what they call it?? LOL. I totally understand. I've been trying to get pregnant since October! :/ Hey, at least you have that snazzy, smexy memory of Tahoe... :)
