Interview & Giveaway: Lust, Lace & Lingerie

This is an After Hours Interview - but posted early because of the giveaway. Please be advised this is Adults only. 18+ to enter the contest. (Please see end of post for details)

Please welcome Brandi Evans to Parajunkee After Hours.

Who is Brandi Evans?
I'm a stay-at-home mom with a serious addiction. The compulsive need to tell sexy stories to whomever will listen!

As much as I can't imagine a day without a book (or Kindle) in my hands or a story "under construction" on my computer, I haven't always been addicted to the written word. Don't hear many author bios start like that, do ya? But it's the truth.

Even despite my late start, I've never been accused of having a dull imagination. Yowza! If only people knew just how dirty my mind is! For years, I was actually ashamed at how nasty the characters in my head acted. Now, I celebrate their boldness and wish some of their kick-ass-and-take-no-prisoners attitude would rub off on me.

Interview

Parajunkee's View: Lust, Lace & Lingerie is the title of your latest book that we are featuring today. What tidbits can you tell us about it?

Brandi: Well, in a nutshell…
Two sexy Brits. One super-naughty negligée. One lingerie manager in way over her head. Let the fun begin!
*grin* Lust, Lace & Lingerie chronicles the sexual exploits of Bree Jennings as her relationship with her sexy British boss goes from cold to blazing. He introduces her to a world of sex unlike she’s never known, but as their relationship progresses, she also discovers there’s more to the man than just his sexy accent and Greek-god good looks.
Oh, if you’re interested, I did a Character Chat with LLL’s heroine. Click here to read it.

PJ: So who would you drool over more? Max the Matthew McConaughey lookalike, or Garrett the dark haired, tattooed bad boy? Me I’ve always been a sucker for bad boys ;)

BE: Well that’s a hard question!! Each man appeals to me in a different way, both equally yummy. :) Max’s all blonde and beautiful, while Garrett is dark and dangerous. Dang that’s a tough call, especially considering how they’re both very dominant in the bedroom. I couldn’t’ go wrong with either, LOL.

PJ: Do you think it is a lot of women’s fantasy to jump into  bed with more than one man? (I know it is every guys fantasy to have two girls *sigh*) Wouldn’t Twilight have ended better if Bella, Jacob and Edward would have just gotten it on?

BE: I think a lot of women would deny they’d like to take on two sexy men who both want her, not simply a willing p*ssy. Ya know? If they both want to please her as much as they want to get pleasure from her…then hell yeah! Who secretely doesn’t want that?
(If you say “no,” you’re lying! :) )

As for Twilight, are we talking about the movie or book? I ask because Jake, at times, was damn annoying in the books, LOL. Going over-the-top to toss verbal jabs at Edward whenever he could. Hello! Can we say immature? I thought so.  :)

But in the movie…yowza! Two men yummy in two different ways. While they’re animosity tended to get a bit annoying at times, the two were totally on-screen eye candy and Bella so totally could, um, whip them into shape. *wink, wink*

PJ: Inspiration. Where does it come from? Is your mind full of naughty lingerie models and sexy fallen angels?

BE: Sometimes.  :) Actually, I get inspiration from the strangest places. For example, the inspiration for my last Ellora’s Cave release, Exposed Desires,  happened while I was on military duty. We were in up-armored Humvees doing a mock convoy exercise through “hostile” territory, and the squad commander was yummy with a capital “Yes! Oh god Yes!” Thus the inspiration for the hero of Exposed Desires was born!
The inspiration for the hero in a book I’m currently plotting is semi based on the character of the phantom in The Phantom of the Opera. :) Where the phantom is enchanting with his voice and ugly on the outside, my hero is just as sexy but ugly on the inside—well at least until the  heroine gets her hands on him. :)

PJ: What is it like working with Ellora’s Cave? Was getting published with them easier than expected, or pretty tough?

BE: I love it at EC. My editor is the embodiment of awesome. :) (And I don’t even have a book submitted at the moment, so you know I’m telling the truth, LOL.)

PJ: Was it hard to get published with EC?

BE:  Actually *knock on wood for fear of jinxing myself* it was easier than I’d anticipated, but that’s only because nothing about my 1st submission went according to “The Rules.” You know the one’s I’m talking about…
Editor’s DON’T contact you.
The submission process takes FOREVER.
My publication with EC was completely opposite. I submitted to the slush pile like all the rest of the prepubs, but the day after, an editor from EC contacted me separate from that submission and said she’d like to see my fallen angel book Tempted. I signed my contract like 9 days later. It STILL floors me.

PJ: Would you recommend authors of erotica to send their submissions to Ellora’s Cave?

BE: Of course! I’m actually trying to talk a friend into submitting. (Yes, Olivia, I’m talking to you! *grin*)

PJ: Can you tell us a little be about being an eAuthor, does it give you more freedom, let your hair down so-to-speak?

BE: I used to think of ePublishing as the “little leagues,” something most everyone needed to do before getting the call to the “big leagues” in New York—but that was all before I became an eAuthor. I love the freedom of being able to write what I want to write (mostly anyway, LOL). Do I want to make the money the big names do? Sure! Seriously, who doesn’t? But I’m also happy where I’m at. There’s less pressure and more freedom, a win-win for this gal. :)

PJ: Why did you choose to write romance, specifically erotica?

BE: I think it chose me. I’ve read romances all my life, even at a time when I didn’t read that much. I used to sneak the old Harlequin’s into my room and read the “dirty” scenes over and over and over. I’d probably give most of those a 2 rating on the hotness chart now, LOL, but back then to a “good” teenage girl, they were scorching!

PJ: I know a lot of people have a problem with sex, or at least in-your-face sex. What advice can you give to people so they can release their inner sex-kitten?

BE: Read Delilah…it worked for me. (Was it just me or did that sound like the erotic version of the Hooked on Phonics tagline? *grin*)
I started reading Delilah Devlin when we were in a crit group together, and I just fell in love (or maybe in lust) with her writing. I knew right then and there what I was supposed to be writing.

PJ: And, lastly Ms. Evans, thank you for answering some of my highly inappropriate questions. Would you like to share with my readers any other books that you have that are about to be released, or events in the future that you would like them to know about?

BE:  I don’t have any other contracted books out there at the moment, but I am finishing up an erotic romance short story I’m calling Revenge Sex. It’s the story of a woman who finds out her husband is cheating on her so she decides to get even with him by filing for divorce and then sleeping with his brother! Only she doesn’t expect the emotional connection she feels with the brother or the dominating way he takes her…

I’m also doing preplanning on a book I’m tentatively calling Heart of Stone. (Pretty sure that title’s gonna change, LOL.) It’s the sequel to Tempted (my 1st EC release). The story revolves around Mari (sister of Tempted’s heroine Lyndi) and her fallen angel hero, Mathias. Five hundred years ago, because of his uncontrollable lust for sex, Mathias was cursed to live out the rest of eternity as a sentient statue. He’s forced to watch the world change around him, trapped in his statue form, until Mari unintentionally—and unwillingly—sets him free…

Lust, Lace & Lingerie
Brandi Evans

I love managing the sexy Dallas boutique, Red Light Lingerie—talking to people about sex, toys and bedroom wear. One of my favorite erotic benefits? My boss, Maxwell Penn, is a Matthew McConaughey lookalike—but with a hot British accent. Okay, he can be domineering and I spend most of my time on the clock fluctuating between “I want to bed him” and “I want to strangle him.” But still…yum.

Tonight, however, everything will change.

An old friend of Max’s from Britain, a lingerie designer, has flown in to show Max a couple possible pieces for our new Risqué line of bedroom wear—but their model canceled. Can you see where this is going? Yep. I go from manager to model, and before I can say G-string, this spur-of-the-moment modeling gig ignites in passion and little ’ol me finds herself sandwiched between Max and his dark-n-sexy best friend.

I’d be in heaven if it wasn’t for the guilt swirling in Max’s blue eyes. But guilt for what?

EXCERPT - Lust, Lace & Lingerie

“As you can see,” Garrett said to Max, “the fishnet offers the viewer a very visual picture while giving the wearer some sense of coverage.”

Sense of coverage? I tried not to roll my eyes. My damn pubic hairs were showing.

“And the black color,” Garrett continued, “combined with the extra-firm elasticity of the fishnet, help minimize bodily imperfections. Not that this one needs any help in that arena, hey, Max?”

“No, not at all. She’s…breathtaking.”

My nipples hardened at his words, and Max’s gaze zoned in on my breasts like heat-seeking missiles locking onto a target. He adjusted himself.

“And…” Garrett spun me around so my breasts pressed against the hard planes of his chest and swept my long hair over one shoulder, exposing my back to Max. “As you can see, the view from the back is exquisite as well. The dipping backline draws the eye and plays with the senses.”

As if accentuating his words, he teased his fingertips along the small of my back. Shivers followed where he touched me and I bit back a moan. My mind went wild with images of his big, gentle hands touching other parts of my body.

Christ, this was not happening.

“And the thick crisscrossing ropes,” Garrett said, his breath hot on my neck, “are not just decorative, my friend. They’re great for anchoring ties too. Now I know what you’re thinking. ‘It’s fishnet. One good tug, and it’s gonna rip.’ But I assure you that’s not the case. The synthetic fabric has some give, yes, but it’ll take a lot of force to rip. It will give you absolute control over your woman. And I know how much you like that.”

Basically, the Exotika books are based on the sexual journey, not the romantic one, but they CAN be a romance. In other words, they're more erotica than romantica in nature, although LLL is VERY much a love story. It's just really hot, LOL.
