Waiting on Wednesday ALA 2011 Edition

The ALA 2011 Edition

The following books will force me to beg, borrow or bribe for at the ALA2011 --- watch out people I might bite (shameless reference to a twitter rumor about BEA)

Speaking of rumors, I've heard that these book might be at ALA11, can you say drool???

The Scorpio Races
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

With her trademark lyricism, Maggie Stiefvater turns to a new world, where a pair are swept up in a daring, dangerous race across a cliff--with more than just their lives at stake should they lose.

Glow (Sky Chasers)Glow (Sky Chasers) by Amy Kathleen Ryan
If a violent battle destroyed the only world you’ve ever known, would you be brave enough to save who was left? Would love be strong enough to survive the fight? Either way, there’s no turning back.

The Taker The Taker by Alma Katsu

Part historical novel, part supernatural page-turner, The Taker is an unforgettable tale about the power of unrequited love not only to elevate and sustain, but also to blind and ultimately destroy, and how each of us is responsible for finding our own path to redemption.

The Rook: A Novel The Rook: A Novel by Dan O'Malley

"The body you are wearing used to be mine." So begins the letter Myfanwy Thomas is holding when she awakes in a London park surrounded by bodies all wearing latex gloves. With no recollection of who she is, Myfanwy must follow the instructions her former self left behind to discover her identity and track down the agents who want to destroy her.

Are you going to ALA11 in New Orleans? We have planned a meet-up! Check it out.

Oh man. Some of these were at BEA. Miss out on MS Scorpio Races, ran out of copies. lucky to get one copy of glow, as there was one left. Got Taker. Alma Katsu is so nice in person. Never heard of the Rook. ALA is giving me a case of book blogger envy.

Oooh - the jealousy is hitting fever pitch here in South Africa! BEA and ALA too far away. *sigh*

I love the fact that we have similar tastes in books (although it looks like that may lose me an eye) - The Rook looks incredible! I've snagged it for my WoW post - I fell in love with the idea from the first sentence.

Have fun Rachel!

I so wish I was going! The Rook sounds really good -- I hadn't heard of it, but it's going on my Goodreads TBR right now!

Also, the biting thing? Not a rumor -- Lindsi from Books, Sweets and Other Treats got bitten. By an old lady. Apparently a senile old lady.
