Moon Rise
By Marilee Brothers

PJVs QUICKIE POV: A great follow-up to Brother's debut, Moonshine, Moon Rise is as fun and entertaining as the first book. The series made me laugh and cringe and want to kick something. The series is highly imaginative and the voice of Allie has teenager written all over it. Brothers has channeled a magical, teenage, trailer-park world and I'm happy to have the pleasure to have visited.

REVIEW: Book two picks up a few months after Book one ended. Life has settled down for Allie and it is back to the same old, same old. But, unfortunately Allie's smoking hot Latino boyfriend has taken a hiatus to Mexico and hasn't been seen since. Allie doesn't seem that fazed, though, oh a teenager's fickle heart. Thoughts of Junior are further pushed from her mind when the Bradford twins move to town - and half of that twinset is super hot Beck. No biggie that he is maybe part demon. He's cute, and he goes to church.

Big deal though, is that a trimark has showed up at Allie's school, in the form of the White Power gangbanger that she put the smack down on a few months back before she even knew she was a Star Seeker.

There is only one reason a trimark is lurking around the school...Allie and her Moonstone.

A light and funny read, I really did laugh out loud in a lot of places. Faye, Allie's mother is still just as annoying - and Allie is just as independent. There wasn't enough of Kizzy in this one, I really liked her and I was disappointed in Allie's fleeting Junior feelings, but I did believe her quick love declarations were silly in the first book. Great tone, great character expansions. The bad guys were a bit 2 dimensional, and I tagged the "master mind" from the get go. Otherwise, great follow-up.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Fans of the lighter side of the paranormal should really enjoy. This is fit for younger teens, parents there is nothing to be worried about in this one. Must read if you enjoyed Moonrise, I do not recommend if you have not read the first book.
