Feature & Follow Friday #34

Happy Follow Friday everyone! Let me tell you a little bit about this HOP. Every friday or really Thursday evening we all get together and say HI! But, we need to know how to find you, so please your link in the Mr. Linky below. Also on Follow Friday we have a Feature...because alliteration is the way we roll. Each week is a different feature from the book blogging community. They are picked randomly or I give in after multiple harassing emails. Just depends on the week. If you want to be next weeks feature...leave your link.

One thing though. The linky for hops seems to have gone and started charging. $25.00 a year. And while I would normally just pay for it, the little cuz is getting married in March --- and I have a month filled with showers and one out of state bacholorette party at the end of this month that I'm saving all my nickles for. So...we are testing new linkys. But..I don't think this will transfer to your site, which is very different than usual. Bear with me.

Our feature this week is...

Aaron (Book Addict) of Dreaming About Other Worlds

"Hello. You can call me Aaron or you can call me Book Addict. Either one works just as well. Book Addict is probably the best description for me though. The primary thing that someone should know about me is that I love books in general, but I really love science fiction and fantasy. I have been inhaling massive amounts of both for decades now. I remember reading The Hobbit during an overnight reading binge when I was ten. I read The Lord of the Rings over the next three days. I cut my reading teeth on Heinlein, and Asimov, and Cherryh, and Norton, and, well pretty much any other author whose books appeared in the science fiction or fantasy section of the library. My family moved around a lot when I was young (my father was in the foreign service), and the first thing I would do when I got to a new school was check out the library and see if they had any Andre Norton books I hadn't read yet. I am constantly grabbing science fiction books that look interesting only to figure out once I begin them that I already read them when I was fourteen. My blog is heavily slanted towards science fiction and fantasy, but basically I write about just about anything I read as well as some of the things I watch.

I started my blog in 2008. Well, not really. I actually did start it then, but for the first two years I didn't do much of anything with it, and posts were few and far between. If you have no direction for your blog, it is easy to just let it slide. It wasn't until September 2010 that I decided to get serious about it. I mostly blog about science fiction and fantasy, and often times I focus on older science fiction and fantasy. The impetus behind seriously getting into book blogging was an article I read in which a journalist was going to read and review all the Hugo Award winning novels starting with The Demolished Man. But there was never any follow up to the initial review. It seems that his enthusiasm waned upon getting to the second Hugo Award winning novel (and since that book just isn't very good, I can see why). So I looked around and didn't find anyone had really done that, at least so far as I was able to tell. And that idea gave birth to what I call my Hugo project to actually read and review all of the Hugo award winning novels, and that my blog direction and purpose. And now I'm addicted to reviewing projects: the Hugo winners, the International Fantasy winners, Farscape, and I keep coming up with more ideas. I'm getting ready to start up Babylon 5 reviews, reflecting my love of the show and allowing me to opine upon the vast store of books and printed material that has been released that are related to it, and draw connections between the show and the older science fiction books that clearly seem to have inspired it. In short, I blog about the books that I love, and I hope anyone who stops by is able to get some enjoyment out of it too."

SORRY!!!!

If you are a fan of Science Fiction what is your favorite book? If you haven't read Science Fiction before...any inkling to? Anything catch your eye?

I have a few Science Fiction faves:
  1. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
  2. Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C. Clark
  3. Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein
  4. Starship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein

Now for the Follow Fun!

To join the fun and make now book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Host { Parajunkee.com } and any one else you want to follow on the list
  2. (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers - http://dreamingaboutotherworlds.blogspot.com/
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say hi in your comments
  5. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  6. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  7. If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

Happy Follow Friday!

Follow it up with your twitter address if you want to get that one out!

Chuckling, I thought I had it easy this week, simply repeating last week's answer. Good thing I came back to find others to follow.

New to the Follow Friday blog hop and a new follower.

I could use some recommendations for sci-fi books. That's not a well read genre of mine.

I confess to not being a big Sci-Fi fan though I do have a few books which I have enjoyed in this genre, Ender's Game being one of them.

Thank you for hosting this again. This really is a great tool for networking.

This has been an overwhelming day! Thanks to everyone for all the love, and I hope that I am able to live up to your expectations!

A big, huge, gigantic thank you to Parajunkee for making me the featured blog of the week. It has been an amazing experience.

And my answer to the question of the week more or less comes down to: "Yes, all of them", although I'm a little more detailed over on my blog.

I think this is a fabulous idea. This isn't my first visit to PJ site but the first time I signed up for the hop. I stopped at 15 sites and had to stop to do some other things but plan on coming back and hitting everyone on the list.
For some reason, I don't show up on the Link but when I put my info in again it said it already had my info? I'll trust it for now.
I think we should all contribute to PJ for Mr. Linky. It's the least we can do for all she's done for us. $1 from each of us and it would be covered in no time. Just need to know how to send it and who to send it to.
PJ, can you help me with this? I know you'd never ask so I'll ask instead. Help me set this up because I'm a NON techno person or I'd do it myself with the right info.
you can email me when you click on my profile or leave me a message at my sight.
The Book Faery www.thebookfaery.com

Please let us do this. Mr. Linky's always worked great and I think the charge is something your followers should cover anyways. Everyone owes you for something :o] and would be more then happy to kick in!
