Oh. My. Gods.
By Tera Lynn Childs
PJVs QUICKIE REVIEW: Mean Girls meets Percy Jackson, this might not have been the most originally crafted piece of literature, but boy did I enjoy reading it! I couldn't get enough of Pheobe and the island with the funny name that she now calls home. At the end of this novel...the only thing I was thinking was "Bring Me More."
REVIEW: Pheobe has a master plan. To finish high school, be the best ever cross-counter runner and to go to USC with her best friends. Mom puts the brakes on that entire master plan when she goes and gets herself hitched and forces Pheobe to move to Greece! To top it off, it is some tiny island in the middle of no-where, with a snotty and prestigious boarding school where everyone in attendance thinks they are gods and goddesses. Literally.
Stuffed full of teenage drama, smoldering hot love interest, evil step-sisters, catty popular girls and quirky lovable side kicks...Oh. My. Gods. had it all. Or at least everything you would want in a fluffy YA to while away a few hours. I can't wait for this to get picked up by Disney - Selena Gomez could play a Greek right??
While the Disneyesque charm was entertaining, the candy-coating did get a bit annoying. These chick-lit type YA novels are usually stuffed full of stereotypical characters - the jock, the cheerleader, the quirky friend, the hot love interest, which can seem almost vapid when you look a little deeper - but in essence shouldn't be prodded, because it is what it is. Taken at face value this book delivered exactly what it promised, light, happy, and innocent entertainment.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Fans of the lighter side of the paranormal should really enjoy. I place this one in the category with books like I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have to Kill You & As You Wish.

I've got this on my tbr pile. It looks really fun. Can't wait to get to it. Thanks for sharing.
@Julie - No I haven't, been meaning to though.
@Karen - I think I might have to give FMF a try.
@Tina - You know, like movies like Ella Enchanted and stuff. I think I'm going to have to start some new sub-genres to delineate. Dark PNR & Light PNR or something like that.
@Savannah - Thanks.
@Trillian - YVW. It was quick too...so you shouldn't wait ;)
TLC is such a fun writer :) Great mini :)
It sounds a bit fluffy for me, but thanks for the review. I can think of some other's who'd like it.
