DreamFever by Karen Marie Moning

This review will contain spoilers BIG SPOILERS for people that have not read the earlier books in the series. I do no recommend reading this review if you have not read FAEFEVER yet.

PJVs QUICKIE POV: The fourth in the MacKayla Lane Series {Fever Series} was by far the best in the series. This is not a light claim, considering how good this series is and the tendency for most series to just fizzle out as they go on. This is not one of those series ...and I have a strong feeling that ShadowFever is going to be even better!


REVIEW: I was left distraught at the end of FaeFever as MacKayla is left being raped by the Death-by-sex Unseelie princes with no rescue in sight. I don't see a way out of her plight and I was literally having heart palpitations at the conclusion. Why should I think that Moning would give me relief with this one? Why would I think that she would answer some of these questions that are killing me?MAINLY:
What is Barrons? But after reading this book and the "extra" of an interview between Monings and Barrons I'm now questions if Moning even knows what he is ;) Then to top it off she kills me...utterly kills me with another cliffhanger.

I'm not really going to go into much detail about what happens in the book, because I don't want to reveal much...but I just have to say that Moning sucks you in from the onset and doesn't let you go...not even at the end. I dreamt of this book after I finished. It resonated that much! Read the series...catch up to this book. I'm dying to read the next in the series. In fact KMM has put that the release party for Shadow will be in New Orleans. Who's coming? Because I'm going to be there...with bells on.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Adults only, has some R rated themes. This is an urban fantasy novel, with any romantic hinting, just that - a hint. Fans of Richelle Mead's Succubus or Eugenie series should enjoy.

PJVs QUICKIE POV: The third in the MacKayla Lane Series {Fever Series} - this one left me breathless and screaming my head off at the conclusion. I don't want to give away anything but you have to read this one...have to!

REVIEW: The fever series plot thickens in FaeFever as Mac gets closer to her sister's killer. The darkness threatens to close in on her as more and more is revealed about the Sinsar Dubh and Mac's abilities.


Barrons & Mac creep closer to the illustrious book, but doubts arise when things are revealed about the Sinsar Dubh, like the fact it is very powerful and can destroy you with a touch. While tracking the book, Mac remains employed at Barrons Books and Baubles trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy - but can't keep the darker part of her life at bay, especially when the interesting Inspector Jayne starts setting his eye on Mac.

V'Lane can't stay away from Mac again. He starts pouring on the charm big time in FaeFever. He really is an enigma in this series...I really doubt that he is as bad as Moning wants us to think he is.

All in all a great third in the series. I'm not quite sure about the potty-mouth Dani and what to think of that whole Sidhe-seer thing. And the word fecking just irks me...LOL. Other than that - enjoying this series greatly. I was slavering over the cliff-hanger ending and wanting to kill someone...BTW.

Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning

PJVs QUICKIE POV: The second in the MacKayla LaneSeries {Fever Series} - one of my all time favorite series. This one didn't have as much impact as the first one, but was an excellent follow-up. I was quickly compelled to move on to number three - but I felt that is was a stepping stone to the the third. It does open up more doors and explain different aspects of the Fever world and I would highly recommend this one if you read the first.

REVIEW: Bloodfever picks up where Darkfever left off. Mac is delving deeper and deeper into the world of the Fae and fighting to stay alive along with tracking down the Sinsar Dubh. There is no one that she can trust and everyone to fear.

Her relationships with Jericho Barrons and V'lane deepen and while both men are equally mysterious and untrustworthy - they both have their own draw. The problem is there is a lot more at stake in this drama than Mac's life - the walls between the worlds are beginning to come down and Mac might be the only one that can stop them coming down completely.

Excellent follow-up...I can't wait to read more. I did find that some parts dragged a bit - but that was mostly because of my impatience to see certain plot lines fine resolutions.

Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

PJVs QUICKIE POV: This is one of my all time favorite Urban Fantasy series. I have a thing for faeries, whether they are good or bad faeries, I don't care bring them on! Moning, in her wonderful MacKayla Lane series, has created a world both entirely creepy and wonderfully compelling.  She blends bare bones human emotion with fantastical and horrifying creatures. Her creations, Mac & Barrons are one of the most resonating characters that I have had the pleasure of reading. If you haven't partaken of this series...what is holding you back?

REVIEW: MacKayla Lane's ordinary world is suddenly thrust into the extraordinary with one phone call. A cryptic voice mail left by her sister right before she dies changes Mac's life forever. Desperate to find answers to her sister's murder and figure out the odd message, Mac journeys to Ireland. Immediately she realizes that something is not quite what it seems.

As her own life becomes threatened and creatures from her nightmares take shape into reality, Mac is thrust into the path of Jericho Barrons, another mystery. Not quite sure whether he is there to help or hinder, Mac must align herself with someone, because she can't do this on her own. The problem, Barrons has one focus and Mac seems like the ticket to that conclusion: Find the Sinsar Dubh - the object that will control both the mortal world and the world of the Fae. Just what will he use it for?

A very intricate plot with twists and turns that left me breathless. I rooted for Mac every step of the way and as she got deeper and deeper the intrigue only worsened. The relationships Mac had with all her side characters were so in depth that I felt I knew them all personally. A well constructed novel, by far - with excellent dialogue that made me feel like I was a part of the conversation. The characters are so well structured and 4 dimensional that I would swear they are actually real. On top of the depth of the characters the range of human emotions and morality that is touched upon in the novel resonates as real real real.  Moning has gift...and that gift is understanding human nature and weaving it into her stories. You aren't just entertained, you are schooled. Once again, a must read.
